Striking Chest

I originally saw this striking Paul Marra black & white lacquered bone chest on Casa Sugar and I fell in love. It is beyond FABULOUS! It can be yours for a cool $5200 on 1st Dibs.

On Sale

I've had the same journal for the past 5 years and it still is barely half filled. Every year one of my New Year's resolutions is to write more in my journal and every year I leave the remaining pages of my journal blank. Perhaps if I had a super cute & chic one like the J Crew one above, I would be more inspired to write. The journal is currently on sale for $39.99 down from $60.

Decorative Things

I am sort of digging this butler tray above from Decorative Things. Although the suzani inspired pattern is nice, I really like the vibrant colors of the Bahama Hand Print patterns seen below.

Fabulous Foyer!

Images Courtesy of HGTV Canada

How amazing is this foyer? So clean, modern & chic. I love the Asian accents and of course the Madeline Weinrib rug. I think these photos show just how much you can do with a small space. Don't ignore the entry in your home folks! It is the first thing a person sees in your home, so it should be AMAZING!

Rubie Green

I am so happy to report that my blogging friend Michelle, of the chic & fabulous blog M.A. Belle, has started an AMAZING eco-friendly line of upholstery fabrics and bedding for her new company Rubie Green. Her fabric will be available to order in April and I seriously can't wait. Check out just a few of her fabulous prints below. Could you just die! Even though she just started her company, she has already been featured in the March issue of Domino magazine (see the front cover). Incredible!

Some collaborations to look forward to...

I love it when fabulous designers collaborate with chain retailers to create goods for us "normal" people. Target seems to be the best at this, consistently collaborating with cutting edge designers. I have to admit that I never heard of Joy Gryson before reading the latest issue of Harper's Bazaar, but I am totally excited about the white patent woven bag with cutout handles she designed above.

Another collaboration I am totally excited about is the shoe collection that Pierre Hardy has created for the Gap. So Fab!

Let's not forget the soon-to-be released collection of rugs designed by Kelly Wearstler for The Rug Company!

Crazy for Ferragamo

I am in lust with this Ferragamo purse seen with Sarah Jessica Parker in the February issue of Allure magazine. I don't know what it is about this purse but I am obsessed with it. I can't seem to find it anywhere though. Maybe it's vintage or maybe it hasn't come out yet. Either way, it's probably better that I don't find out since I doubt I could afford it.

Roberta Roller Rabbit

I need to plan a trip to NYC. I haven't been for 3 years and I am desperate to go back. On my next visit I plan on doing some major shopping and one of the places I want to visit is the boutique Roberta Roller Rabbit. Apparently Roberta named her store after a bolt of fabric she found with rabbits on it while on a trip to India. Her textiles are so bright, color, and exotic and I would love to pick up a few throw pillows and place mats on my next trip. Hopefully her website will be up soon so I can shop online in case I don't make it to NYC for a while.

J Crew Wallpaper

These three beautiful dresses are from J Crew's Spring 08 Collection. The textiles are so beautiful that I couldn't help but imagine them as a chic and vibrant wallpaper or even used in a throw pillow. I really think that J Crew should expand and include a home furnishings and accessories department. It would be so successful! At the very least they could sell their fabrics by the yard.

And how much do I want these gorgeous shoes?

One Day...

I am feeling very uninspired today and therefore have been daydreaming more than usual. My daydreams have been about visiting exotic places (big surprise) and taking luxurious month long vacations. If I had the opportunity to go anywhere in the world at this very moment, without a doubt I would want to go to the Singita Game Reserves in South Africa. I honestly cannot imagine a place that is more beautiful. I think I'll start saving money now so that I can make this daydream a reality.

Is Ikat Dead?

You know how they say that everyone has one true love and that every person has a soul mate. Well, mine is Target. Target is the love of my life. It has always been there for me in times of need. It makes me feel better when I am sad. It suggests wonderful things that I didn't even know I wanted or needed. I would marry Target if it was legal.

Above is a beautiful ikat patterned pillow from the always amazing Madeline Weinrib. To own one of your very own, you will need to cough up some serious dough (think several hundred dollars).

If you don't have hundreds to spend on mere accessories, may I suggest the extremely similar version of the above pillow shown below from none other than Target. Be prepared to spend $12.99. That's right.... $12.99 - basically the price of a movie ticket. Unbelievable! I am slightly worried though that since Target has caught on to the whole ikat trend, the design world will turn its back on it faster than another child showing up in the Jolie/Pitt clan.

Happy V Day!

Hip Hilton Home

Everyone needs to run out and get the March issue of InStyle Magazine immediately... seriously. It is 482 pages of pure bliss. One of the show stoppers in the issue for me was the profile on Nicky Hilton's home. It is so unbelievably chic and fabulous. I was actually a bit surprised about Nicky's decor style because I thought it might be more like her sister Paris's home which is very pink barbie. Hilton's color palette of black and white with touches of color is fabulous and ultra modern. It is the perfect pad for a mid twenty something Hollywood socialite. The issue also showcases Eva Longoria's to die for shoe closet, along with photos of rooms from Diane von Furstenberg, Loulou de la Falaise, Betsey Johnson, and Jacopo Etro. AMAZING!

Photographed by Paul Costello.

Could you just die over this vintage Chanel serving tray?

Love the combo of the banana leaf wallpaper with the pink chairs. So Beverly Hills Hotel!

I never thought I would like a glossy black patent leather headboard but I think it looks amazing in Nicky's bedroom. So glamorous!

For a comparison, below is a picture of Paris Hilton's pink bedroom.

To watch Nicky give a personal tour of her home, check out this link. I cannot even begin to handle her shoe closet. TO DIE FOR!!!

Mondrian Scottsdale

Earlier I mentioned amazing designer Benjamin Noriega-Oritz and this past weekend I had the opportunity to visit his fabulously designed hotel, The Mondrian Scottsdale. The hotel is ultra chic and modern with a very sensual lobby bathed totally in white. Apparently Ortiz was going for a Garden of Eden theme, describing his design as "pure, naked, [and] pre-sin." I am not so sure how the life size sheep and chinese porcelain stools fit into this theme, but it somehow works.

At the Mondrian, I had an AMAZING meal at Asia de Cuba - a very trendy Asian meets Latin fusion restaurant. I am usually somewhat sketchy of trendy restaurants since I often find that the food does not live up to the hype, but Asia de Cuba did not disappoint. Everything from the mojitos, to the appetizers, to the spectacular desserts was delicious. My only complaint would be the very unappetizing mural of a rooster on the wall. I guess it's a small price to pay for culinary heaven!

Mini Makeover

I just got Photoshop (about time right!) and I have just spent hours trying out new ideas for my blog header. So far I am satisfied with the zebra styled one above. Don't be surprised if I change it a few times this week though. Thoughts on the new look?

Decorate with Fashion?

Would you ever decorate with couture? My mom is always telling me that I should display my shoes on the wall as works of art. I agree that some of the shoes in my collection are museum worthy but I just can't bring myself to decorate with them, or any item of clothing for that matter. I'm afraid it would just look tacky or look like I forgot to put away my clothes. Do any of you decorate with your wardrobe? I guess I do occasionally use pashmina scarves as throws on my couch, but I'm not so sure that counts.

When in Paris...

Did you know that the Ritz Paris offers cooking classes, in English no less? I cannot believe I only just learned of this! The Ritz Escoffier School trains professional chefs as well as total amateurs (like moi). Courses are taught by French chefs and translated in English by assistants. You can take workshops that teach you how to make truffles, pastries, or even how to pair food with wine. I am definitely, definitely going to try this the next time I am in Paris.

Fun & Inexpensive Side Table

Check out these cute accent tables from Pier 1 Imports. I love the precision cut outs and I especially love the turquoise color. At only $79, you can afford to get two!
