DIY - Lamp

I was planning on giving this lamp away to Goodwill since I never used it, it didn't go with my decor, and I generally just thought it was ugly. But then I got inspired to try and make it better. I went to Home Depot and picked up some glossy black and robins egg blue paint and went to town on my lamp. Below is a picture of the new and improved lamp. I sort of like it now. I think I'll wait a bit to give it away. :)

Crate & Barrel Love

Popped into a Crate & Barrel the other day and fell in love with about a dozen new things. You need to go there... NOW!

Fabulous Pagoda Étagère in vibrant red.

Love the fabric on this Poco cube. Place a pair of them at the end of your bed or put a couple underneath a console for some extra seating.

Fab white leather pouf.

Chic Missoni-like throw for the couch.

Perfect lamp for your nightstand.

Love the circle cut outs in this Tivoli dining chair.

Love the pop of color in this Lacquer mirror.

And, I pretty much NEED to have this aqua blue ceramic Rimini vase.

Some of My Favorite Dresses From Last Night!

I have been desperate for a little glam lately. I fully support and understand the writer's strike, but I want the whole thing to end already so I can watch the red carpet and shamelessly judge and make fun of all the celebrities. Some of my observations from the rather dull SAG Awards last night:

First of all, unless Angelina Jolie's breasts just suddenly grew by themselves overnight, Angie is for sure preggers! I actually like Angelina's vintage Hermes dress but I think it would have looked better had it not been so loose fitting.

Secondly, my favorite dress of the evening was Kate Hudson's bohemian inspired gown. She just always gets it right in my opinion. She epitomizes hippie chic!

I also really liked this charcoal grey Monique Lhuillier dress on America Ferrera.

Grey seemed to be somewhat of a theme on the red carpet and I was loving this pale gray Nina Ricci gown on French actress Marion Cotillard.

And then there was this..... Ummmm... what the hell was she thinking!!!! Seriously!

Molly Sims' L.A. Home (a little inspiration for Friday)

One of my all time favorite homes is Molly Sims' Los Angeles home featured in the February 2005 issue of InStyle magazine. I always turn back to these tear sheets when looking for inspiration. I'm sure many of you saw Molly's Soho loft in the latest (and last) issue of InStyle Home. In all of her homes, Molly worked with Beverly Hills based designer Kishani Perera of Fuse-id. You should definitely check out Kishani's work. I think her interiors are so sophisticated and glamorous.

To see a great interview with Kishani, check out Decor8's fabulous interview with her. To see another one of Molly's homes (how many does she have?), also check out the FABULOUS blog M.A. Belle to see photos of a more Asian styled home, as well as those of her NY apartment.

Visual Yummy

My friend Lindsay is an AMAZING graphic designer. Look at the awesome Christmas gift certificate she made for fun for her future brother-in-law. So Chic! She is in the beginning stages of starting her own company and I know she will be incredibly successful. She is very modest but absolutely brilliant! She just started a new blog Visual Yummy. Isn't that the best name? Now that I have mentioned it, perhaps she will be forced to update her blog more regularly :)

The Ones That Got Away

A few weeks ago I was at a design store that was going out of business and I spotted this very same pair of faux snakeskin benches. The price listed was $250 each but I am pretty sure I could have gotten them cheaper. The owner was willing to accept any "reasonable" offers. I seriously considered making an offer but then talked myself out of it. Recently I saw the benches listed on Chapman Radcliff Home's 1st Dibs site and the price was $950! Oh well.... coulda, woulda, shoulda!

Sunburst Mirrors

I'm not sure if sunburst mirrors are one of those trends that are already over but I still really want one and I think the sunburst mirror above from Horchow would suit me perfectly.

We've Officially Broken Up (if anyone cares)

I recently had the unique and somewhat random opportunity to spend time with celeb Milo Ventimiglia of Heroes fame. I have to admit that I really didn't know anything about Milo before I met him except for the random tidbits I read in People or UsWeekly. Had it been someone like John Krasinski, I would have been beside myself with excitement. I did entertain the thought of asking Milo to have John call me (since they are apparently friends) but then thought this would come off as quite creepy and stalkeresque. I'm glad I didn't make a fool of myself :)

Anyways, Milo was very nice and pleasant to be around, if not a little shy. I definitely would not describe him as the gregarious type, so in order to make conversation I asked if he had a girlfriend or was "seeing someone." Admittedly this was quite nosy of me and absolutely none of my business. Surprisingly, Milo went into this whole discussion of how he was really busy and didn't have time to date and recently got out of a "bloodbath" of a 3 year relationship. I was surprised at how candid he was since I figured he would have responded with a simple "no" or "yes" or "it's not of your F*%@in business."

Cut to last week where I see the picture above of Mr. "I don't have time for a girlfriend" at the mall with none other than his just-barely-turned-18 year old costar Hayden Panettiere. Now Milo and I are over... done with it... finito. I realize that the last person he was going to tell about his relationship with a teenager was lil' old me, but he could have simply said "no comment" or "I don't talk about my personal life with strangers thank you." And to think it could have been such a beautiful one sided relationship.......

[Here is a picture of Milo and I. I'm the one with the blonde hair that I cut out of the frame. What can I say? I like to keep things anonymous ;)]

So earlier I posted about some amazing coffee tables that I was lusting after.... Well here they are! Left to my own devices (no help from Mercury Design Studios thank you) I accidently stumbled upon them while visitingMaison Luxe. They are $450 a piece, which is a bit more than I was hoping for. Maybe the coffee table fairy will surprise me with a pair? I LOVE THEM!!!!

Shine On

I recently discovered the company Shine and I am completely OBSESSED with their lamps. You can view these and others at Cottage & Bungalow.

White Sands #4 by Julia Christe.

Thanks to Decorno, I found the blog Silk Felt Soil, and on Silk Felt Soil I found beautiful photos from Julia Christe, which then led me to the incredible website Lumas. How could I have not known about Lumas?

Lumas is a gallery in NYC that offers an AMAZING collection of original art and photography on their website. I seriously spent 2 hours browsing their online collection. Although the prices of most of the limited edition prints are nowhere near the $20 you'll find on 20x200, I found that much of the artwork was very affordable. Below are some of my favorite prints. You need to go to this website NOW!

Long Drive by Jacques Olivar.

#8/2 by Wojtek Wieteska.

Alfaralfa by Gero Gries.

Umbrellas by Joerg Maxzin.

Untitled Urbanscape 9 by Mauren Brodbeck.

Yokohama by Frederic Lebain.
